Over the past few months, I have taken on a new, rather boring hobby– speck watching. More specifically, watching other ocean rowers make their crossing with Google Maps. On January 1st, Paul Ridley set off on his 3,000 mile row across the Atlantic from the Canaries to the Caribbeans and with modern technology, I have been able to follow his entire journey. Once I am at sea, you will also be able to follow my progress right on this website.

Paul with a scruffy beard, a true sign of accomplishment. Congrats Paul!
After 87 days at sea, Paul has finally arrived! This is especially
good news for me as I will be using his boat during my crossing. The
19 ft ocean rowboat boat, Liv, will be shipped out this Wednesday and
on it’s way back to me. Transit time is about 21 days so in a little
over a month I will be able to start training on the boat on Lake
Erie. Can’t wait! I will be moving the boat around for events over the
year but it will mainly be at the Lakeside Yacht Club, Mentor Harbor
Yachting Club, and GaREAT Sporting Complex in Geneva. I’ll also be
posting a calendar of events soon so if you’d like to check out the
boat, you can!
Check back soon as I finalize the calendar of events.

Katie, you are a brave young lady. I wish you the best of luck on your rowing trip. Be careful and be sure to listen to your body.

my God, i thought you were going to chip in with some decisive insght at the end there, not leave it with ‘we leave it to you to decide’.
This brings back to mind something that my brother pretty much always said…
However its totally inappropriate right this moment…
This reminds me of this thing my mom used to say…
But then it is probably inappropriate just now…
This brings back to mind this thing my grandfather always said…
However it is totally inappropriate right this moment…
