BON VOYAGE SOCIAL MEDIA EVENT

by Katie on December 14, 2009

By the end of this week I will have my feet in the Atlantic waters on the west coast of Africa, where I depart on my journey! Until then, I am doing lots of media with a 15 minute Web cast on Wednesday, December 16, at 11 a.m. It will be featured on Cleveland.com from The Plain Dealer editorial offices. During the interview, you can ask your own questions or good wishes when you go to cleveland.com/news-videos and log on. My team will be tweeting during the Web cast at www.twitter.com/KatieSpotz as well. If you are unable to join the Web cast live, it will be available online at Cleveland.com. The send off will continue all day Wednesday.

Thanks for your support!

Cool interview on the web–I tried to get into the chat rooom but they kept having site errors–I think lots of people would have joined if not for the Cleveland.com problems.

I’ve been seeing/hearing about you all over the news…your row sounds so exciting (and for such a great cause). It’s nice to know that there are young people in the world today that are committed to helping others. Good luck with your row…I’ll be watching your progress.

Katie, you continue to amaze and delight all of us at Blue Planet Run. Whenever I tell your story, people are overwhelmed and so excited at what you’re doing. We are so honored that you are combining your voyage with fundraising for Blue Planet Run.
So fly across the Atlantic, row on back and do us all proud. You go, girl and show everyone what you’re made of!

I cannot put in words how impressed I am. Katie, I wish you all the best from the bottom of my heart. God bless you! – ‘It’s a funny thing about lif; if you refuse to accept anything but the best, you very often get it.’ – William Somerset Maugham … go for it .. get it!

fioranij December 17, 2009 at 10:43 pm

Katie–my thoughts and prayers are with you on this voyage. Your life will be changed, and so will those for which you will provide safe water, and still others who will learn of the mission through you. Bon Voyage!

I was looking for the tracking link. I had heard the interview on Public Radio about GPS tracking.
Thanks,

Katie I was speaking with someone yesterday and was reminded what it was like after graduating from college many years ago. Some people go backpacking around Europe, some people begin the long process of finding a job, and then there are people like you who work for the nonprofit Americorps after graduation…but I can’t think of anyone who decides to combine their passion with such a great fundraising cause by rowing across the ocean for Blue Planet Run Foundation! In a few years you’ll be working or raising a family and won’t be able to do something like this–you picked a great time in life to do this and it will define who you are for the future! Row, row, row your boat Katie and love it!

fmckay December 19, 2009 at 3:31 am

So impressed… and inspired … and even a little jealous. Once you make up your mind to do something amazing, the whole universe conspires to help you acheive it. Go with speed, courage and our prayers and support!

Jackie G December 20, 2009 at 10:12 pm

Katie! It’s finally here! You big day and days ahead! Your fierce determination, talent and passion to take care of those in need will shine through. You are changing the world. I’m so glad to have gotten to meet you and work with you. God speed!
